How about enabling "threaded discussions"?

Once individual discussion threads garner more responses it'll get difficult to tell who replies to whom or which comment when we can only add a new response at the end. And not everybody will remember to reference who the response is to. Would it be possible / feasible to make threaded discussions possible where you can directly respond to a comment? The nesting wouldn't need to be too deep - one additional level as is possible in FB-groups should do, two at most.

Comments

  • I think this is a good idea, much like it is laid out on blog.hotwhopper.com. If a particular thread goes too far down the rabbit hole, you can stop reading it and continue on with the main thread.
  • It might take me a while to see if this is possible. I'll get onto it as soon as I can. I'll also look at other options to meet the same end in case it's not easy (following chains within threads - to mix the imagery).
  • A threaded discussion can take on a life of its own. On other discussion boards people will take a busy interesting sub-thread and manually copy and paste the relevant comments into a new discussion. It can take a bit of time depending on how many separate comments they need to copy/paste. Is there an option where you can take a sub-thread and elevate it to its own separate discussion via a "Copy This Thread" or something similar?
