Best weather satellite imagery resources available on the internet?

My opening browser page is https://www.weather.gov/satellite* which displays the most recent satellite images plus you can play a previous 24hr loop.  It acts as my weather report and it's fun to look at.  It's a shame longer loops aren't available.  Although various Hurricane videos have put together long weather runs that are fascinating to watch. { The 2005 Hurricane Season | NOAAVisualizations }

* These images show the most recent image of the United States, from NOAA geostationary (GOES) satellites. They are generated every 30 minutes using either the Visible, Infrared, Shortwave Infrared (4um), or the Water Vapor images into one larger composite image using GOES East and West Imagers.
Other Areas: Alaska | Hawaii | Guam | Puerto Rico | American Samoa

The National Mosaic Enhanced Radar Image http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/full_loop.php with its interference patterns around cities seems confusing to me.

My bandwidth is fairly narrow and I was wondering what other non-technical user friendly weather satellite imagery resources are available out there in the great wide world?

How about tracking extreme weather events?  Is anyone tracking those in any consistent, cross-referenced manner?  I know the Union of Concerned Scientists has their Hotmap { http://www.climatehotmap.org }, but it seems to me a lost project in need of a leader.  Currently it's down right vague.

Anything else going on?  If there isn't, how do we recruit someone(s) to start filling this need?

There are some nice high definition satellite images on the BoM website - Australia and region only I think. However there is a half-Earth map as well, which is animated. The images are from the JMA Himawari-8 satellite.

I'd look it up but need to get to bed, another running day tomorrow - can you tell me more about earth.nullschool - that page is awesome, particularly being able to rotate the global.  Thanks, tell me more

I don't know any more about it than is on the "about" page. If you click on the word "Earth" in the bottom left hand corner, it brings up the options. At the bottom there is an "about" that gives some more info. Maybe someone else can enlight .
